Spyderco Para 3 Lightweight Salt CPM Magnacut

Spyderco Para 3 Lightweight Salt CPM Magnacut

Every gram counts

  • only 70 grams light
  • good grip
  • Deep-carry clip

Spyderco have added a popular model to their ultra-lightweight range with the Para 3 Lightweight. The already brilliant Para 3 has been put on a radical diet - with phenomenal results.

The new Lightweight version with the slightly rounded handle, is fantastic in the hand. With its sensational 70 grams, you can carry it in your pocket almost unnoticed. The handle scales in this version are made of the lightweight FRN plastic (Fiber Reinforced Nylon) that Spyderco has been using for a long time. This material is very robust and offers an extremely good grip. So you can work with the knife even with wet hands safely and accurately, without the one the Para 3 to slip.

For the blade, the manufacturer from Colorado relies on the Magnacut steel, which is also used for example in the UKPK. This nitrogen-alloyed steel offers excellent prerequisites for a good all-round steel. On the one hand, it takes on enormous sharpness and can still be resharpened easily. In addition, this alloy is absolutely insensitive to rust.

As with the normal Para 3, the popular Compression Lock is used to lock the blade, which can be easily and safely operated via the back of the blade.

Together with the deep-carry clip, you have a knife here that exudes a real tool character and simply wants to be used. The light weight, versatile steel and fantastic hand placement make this cutting tool a real workhorse.

So out of the cabinet and into life.

Spyderco Para 3
Spyderco Para 3 A faithful companionMost major knife manufacturers have developed their classics over the years, which are simply indispensable from the program. Spyderco's Para Military 2 is one of them, along with several other models. But for some, this folding knife is a bit too big for everyday use, especially since there is a legal regulation in some US states that only allows blades up to a length of 3 inches. Spyderco have therefore put the PM2 on a diet and the result can now be admired in the form of the Para 3. Well, it's not quite that simple - after all, the Para 3 is much more than just a shrunken version of the classic.Despite the significantly smaller dimensions, the Para 3 also feels absolutely fantastic in the hand, especially when you use the finger choil at the base of the blade. This indentation allows one to guide the knife very close to the cutting edge and thus be able to transfer a lot of force to the cutting motion. The Compression Lock, which at first glance looks like a liner lock attached to the back, provides maximum security through its locking technology, which is due to the fact that here (unlike the liner lock) a part of the plate is pushed between the blade root and the stop pin. So to destroy the lock, the vertically positioned liner would have to be crushed between the blade and the pin, which is virtually impossible. The fully raised flat grind of the blade, which is made of CPM S45V steel, ensures optimal cutting performance and the fine tapered tip also allows for the most precise work. The blade length of exactly 3inches (hence the name of the knife) is still long enough to handle the vast majority of everyday cutting tasks with ease, yet still makes for a much more compact overall package compared to the Para Military 2. Together with the large lanyard hole and the reversible poket clip (making the knife perfectly suitable for left-handers), you get a really robust yet handy pocket knife with the Para 3, which proves to be an absolutely faithful companion in everyday life.

Spyderco Para Military 2 Maxamet
Spyderco Para Military 2 Maxamet Maxamet version Gray G10 Scales  Made in Golden/Colorado/USA/Earth   The EDC Classic Don't be put off by the name of this absolute classic - this is no combat knife or any other kind of military stabbing weapon. The Para Military 2 - or PM2 - is one of the most popular and versatile knives Spyderco has in its lineup. Originally introduced in 2010, this all-around knife has been improved upon over the years, making this cutting tool an absolutely mature design by now. The incredibly ergonomically shaped handle, is designed for maximum control when working with the knife and allows a variety of ways to guide the blade. Really great is the fingerchoil (an indentation at the base of the blade), which makes it possible to grip the knife very close to the cutting edge to transmit maximum force to the cutting movement. Thanks to the attached filing (jimping), you have an absolutely secure grip even in this position and the knife never threatens to slip away thanks to the gray G10 surface of the handle. The steel plates are recessed into the handle material and generously milled out to save weight. An absolute highlight of the PM2s is the Compression Lock. At first glance, this locking technology looks like a liner lock placed at the rear - but a closer look reveals that it is not. With Compression Lock, the liner moves between the blade root and the back stop pin. To destroy this lock, the steel liner would have to be squashed between the blade root and the pin, which is virtually impossible. This construction makes the Para Military 2 one of the most stable pocket knives on the market. In this version of the knife, the blade is made of the rather unusual Maxamet steel. This is a high-speed tool steel manufactured by Carpenter in the USA, which is not only impressively sharp thanks to its incredibly high carbon content, but also incredibly hard due to the composition of the alloy. Spyderco has a hardness of over 67 HRC, which is an incredibly high value in the pocket knife world. The result is a blade whose cutting edge has a very long service life and remains sharp for an amazingly long time. The fully raised flat grind ensures optimum cutting performance and the fine point allows even the finest detail work. Thanks to the reversible pocket clip on both sides, the knife is ideal for both right- and left-handed users, while the large lanyard hole allows a safety strap to be attached.

Spyderco Manix 2 black G10
Compact EDC workhorse knife Eric Glesser Design Ball Bearing Lock Eric's First  Spyderco has been a family business from the beginning. At the very start, the company consisted practically only of Sal Glesser and his wife, who drove around the country with a bus and visited trade shows. Today, Spyderco is based in Golden, Colorado, and has become one of the leading pocket knife manufacturers in the USA. In addition to Sal Glesser, today it is primarily his son Eric who has taken the management of the company in hand. And even his first design, the Manix 2, is a hit. The Manix 2 is definitely one of the Spyderco knives you'll pick up and not want to put aside again. The ergonomic design offers an incredibly comfortable hand position so that this tool literally sticks in your hand while working. On two solid steel liners sit handle scales made of indestructible G10, which can really take a beating. A central feature of the Manix 2 is the Ball Bearing Lock. Here, a thick steel ball, which sits in a plastic cage, is pushed onto the blade root by means of a centrally mounted spring. This prevents the blade from simply folding back in. This lock is not only incredibly sturdy but also has a completely unique feel. The blade action has a gentle resistance, so that a very controlled action is achieved. The leaf-shaped blade made of CPM S30V is opened, as you know it from Spyderco for sure, through the large thumbhole. With the blade tip located on the center axis of the knife, you have maximum control over the knife when working with the Manix 2 and can also do very precise cutting work. The fully raised flat ground provides the best cutting properties so that working with this rattle is simply fun.
