Just little different

What do the two Danish designers Jesper Voxnaes and Jens Ansø do for inspiration for a new knife? Well, of course we don't know exactly, but the name of the new Sonoma suggests that the county of the same name in northern California may have played a role. The rocky coastal region is home to countless vineyards and is considered one of the most beautiful places in Northern California. It's a safe place to hang out while thinking about a new knife.

With the ACE Sonoma V2, the two Danes have once again reworked one of their most popular models a bit and deliver a knife that convinces with a few cool tweaks of the original model. Of course, the V2 version of the Sonoma is also manufactured by Reate in China. The company founded by David Deng is considered one of the most precise manufacturing facilities in the world and not for nothing Reate knives enjoy an excellent reputation.

While the use of a frame lock on the Sonoma was a sensation for GiantMouse fans, the manufacturer has once again opted for a liner lock on the Sonoma V2. The handle scales of the Sonoma were milled from Micarta, while the liners are made of steel, which is especially important for the lock spring to minimize wear.

The Elmax steel blade runs on ball bearings located in the blade root, which makes for great flipping action. The elongated, bulbous blade shape, which tapers finely to the tip, was provided with a rounded blade back. This creates an extremely elegant and tasteful shape, which together with the handle provides a very aesthetic overall appearance. Another detail is the Detent Ramp milled into the blade root, which ensures that the blade travels in a single, velvety smooth motion when closed. The small flipper tab allows the blade to shoot out of the hilt quickly and provides a tremendous amount of fun.

With the Sonoma V2, GiantMouse have changed one of their best knives a bit again, giving you a much lighter and decidedly outdoorsy version of this knife. The wire clip, as you already know it from other GiantMouse knives, lets the Sonoma V2 almost completely disappear in your pocket.
