 Little mouse from overseas

What are the two Danish designers Jesper Voxnaes and Jens Ansø doing to get inspiration for a new knife? Well, we don't know exactly, but the name of the new Sonoma suggests that the county of the same name in Northern California may have played a role. The rocky coastal region is home to countless vineyards and is considered one of Northern California's most beautiful places. Here you can easily stay while thinking about a new knife.

With the new ACE Sonoma, GiantMouse once again approaches the very limited GM series and delivers a knife that offers some special features for the ACE series. First of all GiantMouse surprised with the news that this model is not manufactured in Italy as usual, but at Reate in China. The company, founded by David Deng, is considered one of the most precise production facilities in the world and Reate knives enjoy an excellent reputation.

By now it's the only ACE line model with a frame lock. This was previously only known from the very limited GM series. The handle of the Sonoma is milled from solid titanium, while the lockbar has a steel insert to minimize wear. The lateral bevels on the titanium shells let the knife sit wonderfully in the hand.

The M390 steel blade runs on ball bearings located in the blade pivot, which itself run on steel washers to prevent wear on the titanium. The bearings are also much better protected against dirt. The elongated, bellied blade shape, which tapers finely towards the tip and has a rounded back. This creates an extremely elegant and tasteful shape, which together with the handle provides a very aesthetic overall picture. A further detail is the detent ramp milled into the blade heel. The small Flipper Tab lets the blade flip out of the handle quickly and provides a tremendous amount of fun.

Details such as the bronze anodized backspacer, the matching pivot collar and the solid milled pocket clip in the same color round off the overall picture. With the Sonoma, GiantMouse has taken the next step and built a knife that has amazed even die-hard fans of the brand. If you are looking for a flipper knife with lots of great details and a first-class finish, we strongly recommend the GiantMouse Sonoma!

One additional deepcarry clip is included.

Top-Klappmesser in punkto Qualität und Design

Fast perfektes Schneidwerkzeug. Spitzenqualität und hochwertige Komponenten. Nur der Clip bekommt abzug, weil er etwas zu sehr aufträgt. Das ist aber Jammern auf höchstem Niveau. Wirklich ein Top-Messer!

Giantmouse ACE Nimbus V2 Micarta
Giantmouse Nimbus V2 Micarta  New revised version Design by Jesper Voxnaes and Jens Anso Green micarta handle and Elmax blade This novelty makes the hearts of many fans of the big mouse beat faster: the Nimbus, one of the very early designs of GiantMouse, gets an update. Although a lot has changed, the knife has basically remained the same. The GiantMouse Nimbus is still not a saint - as the name of the knife suggests. On the contrary: this knife is a merciless workhorse with which you can really nibble something away.   Voxnaes and Anso were inspired by the old Danish motorcycle brand Nimbus, which was built from 1915 until late in the 1950s. Now you are right to ask what a knife has to do with a motorcycle.  But the comparison is actually quite accurate: the motorcycle was not so much a racing machine as a 'workhorse', which also scored well in the off-road sector. With exactly this philosophy in mind, the Nimbus was designed.   A knife without frills and a blade that represents a modern interpretation of the Nordic puuko shape, with a bulbous curve that leads to a fine but robust tip that allows for fine cuts without any problems.   The function of the knife was also the main consideration in the choice of materials. The V2 version uses a 3D contoured Micarta, as we know it from the GiantMouse Ace Biblio. Micarta is not only very robust but can also be easily cleaned with a little water after work.    The liners, made of Asis 420 stainless steel, make the knife even more stable and the Liner Lock ensures that the blade is securely locked when open. In contrast to the first version, the Nimbus V2 now has washers made of phosphor bronze, which provide a little more stability and are very easy to clean. Also the blade has been updated: Böhler's Elmax steel is one of the best blade steels currently available in the industry. Here you get a 3.5mm thick blade, which is equally rust-resistant, tough and has good cutting properties and can handle even tougher cutting tasks effortlessly.   The Nimbus is clearly a real working knife that will find a new home in your toolbox, jacket pocket or work trousers.
