Nerd Knife
When Ostap Hel is in the game, things get exciting. If you've been following us for a while or even listening to our podcast, you may have noticed that we are absolute fans of Ostap's designs. So it was clear that the Ki-V definitely had to come into our program.
Here you get an EDC pocket knife that is truly a mini EDC. The Ki-V is Ostap Hel's first collaboration with Civivi and is intended as a small office pocket knife for the lightest everyday cutting tasks. The lack of a lock also makes it portable almost anywhere, so you should basically never have a problem with this little pocket knife. The design of the knife is based on the classic Kiridashi knives of Japan and features a highly modern look despite the historical background. To prevent the blade from simply falling back when open, a liner with your detent ball presses down on the blade root, creating a sort of flip-joint mechanism. The front flipper and ball bearings make for a lot of fun in the office and annoyed colleagues. For the blade steel, Civivi relies on the proven 9CR18MOV, which can be easily resharpened and is extremely rust-resistant. The handle is made out of black g10.
The story behind the name of the model is interesting: The Ki stands for "Kiridashi" while the V alludes to the many, V-shaped angles of the knife. By the way, the knife is pronounced "Kiwi", which together with the manufacturer's name makes for a funny combination with quite a few Is. By the way, Ostap Hel got the idea for the name while playing Cyberpunk 2077 - here, one of the main characters is simply called "V".
So if you're looking for a cool nerd knife or need something very compact for the office, the KI-V from Civi would definitely be worth considering.

It's the small things in life...
Ich bin für gewöhnlich kein großer Fan von sehr kleinen Messern, das Civivi KI-V allerdings hat mich eines besseren belehrt. Ich war auf der suche nach einem Messer für die fünfte Hosentasche und hab mir das KI-V in Natural G10 bestellt. Was soll ich sagen, mich hat das kleine Messer so überzeugt das ich mir noch ein schwarzes bestellt habe. Natürlich wird man mit dem Messer keine Bäume fällen aber zum öffnen von Paketen oder sonstigen Verpackungen im Alltag absolut zu gebrauchen. 9Cr18MoV ist mMn für den Anwendungszweck völlig ausreichend und einfach nachzuschleifen. Detent war bei beiden Messern gut, obwohl er bei einem deutlich stärker war. Der fidget-factor ist enorm und ich tue mich immer wieder schwer das Messer wegzustecken. Meine hab ich ein wenig "modifiziert" und gefallen mir so noch viel besser. Klare Kaufempfehlung. Versand war super schnell und wie das Messer waren es die kleinen Dinge die der Bestellung beigelegt waren, wie etwa ein handgeschriebenes Kärtchen oder ein Pflaster, die mich absolut von der Altonaer Silberwerkstatt überzeugt haben. Ein großes Lob und ich werde hier immer wieder gerne einkaufen.
